Pegasus Café Chronicles: Sunshine & Moonlight House-sitting in Pegasus has its perks. Quiet streets, plenty of fresh air, and the very important task of exploring the local café scene (someone has to do the hard work, right?). Our morning wanderings led us to Sunshine and Moonlight Café - a spot that, at first glance, is part sleepy local and also energetic with cyclists stopping for a muffin or a coffee boost!! Walking in, it was calm and quiet, almost suspiciously so - until we noticed the gaggle of cyclists outside, sipping their coffees like it was a post-race medal ceremony. Inside was warm and welcoming, and we were greeted by a lovely young woman at the counter. I ordered a flat white (because no one trusts a café until they’ve tested the coffee). Verdict? Delicious. Smooth, rich, and exactly what my slightly foggy morning brain needed. The menu, however, could do with a little more detail - especially when it comes to “build-your-own” breakfasts. Sausages were listed at $6, but how many does that actually buy you? Same with bacon. When we asked, the servers weren’t sure, and the man behind the counter came across as a bit dismissive - borderline rude about the bacon question. Not the most reassuring start. We debated whether to stay, but in the end decided to give it a go. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with extra bacon, while my husband bravely continued with his build-your-own feast: eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausages - the works. About 35 minutes later, our food arrived. First impressions? Worth the wait. My Eggs Benny looked fantastic, and it tasted even better. The ciabatta looked like it had been fried, giving it a crispy golden edge. The bacon was just the right kind of crispy (not teeth-breaking, but definitely not floppy). So good!!! The hollandaise was plentiful - hallelujah Manu!! and the spinach was fresh and flavoursome. Poached eggs? Spot on. My husband’s breakfast was just as impressive: hearty, well-cooked, and delicious. After we finished, the owner came out to explain the menu and portions, which was really helpful. He was incredibly pleasant and turned the whole experience around for us. By the time we left, we were very happy with everything. So, Sunshine and Moonlight Café: great coffee, excellent food, a menu that could use a few more specifics but we will happily be back, and recommend it to anyone who asks. Thankyou!!! (I only gave the atmosphere a three because it wasn’t that busy when we turned up, however, when we left at 1030am alot more people had turned up).

We had the most delicious meal tonight! We ordered the karaage chicken, duck fat potatoes, gyoza and prawns. Everything was absolutely divine! Even though they have a kids menu, the kids wanted to order from the main menu and were so happy with everything they had. We will definitely be back

Absolutely wonderful to see our local Cafe converted to a stunning little restaurant. While still a cafe during the day, in the evening it turns into a taste sensation. This was our first visit after the change in ownership and we were thrilled with the results. Each of the four dishes we chose were a delight. Beautifully cooked with a very clever balance of tastes. The team were professional - making for a wonderful experience. Can highly recommend.

Lovely lunch today. My husband is a celiac so the owner personally discussed our food which was pork belly bites, karaage chicken and duck fat potatoes and made them gluten free. We plan to return for dinner. Highly recommend locals to support this little gem

Excellent night out! They have changed their menu to more suit the majority of patronage. But still kept their sharing meals that we enjoy! We ordered the pork belly bites (amazing! Perfect flavor!), the new Beef Burger (which the chef cut so we could share) and the Halloumi Salad! Will definitely be back!

Absolutely perfect dining experience tonight. Greeted by a lovely young lady named Olive who then took care of everything front of house for us, polite, professional and checked on our table just the right amount. The food was the best we have had in a very long time, Tim the owner and head chef is top notch at his craft putting together high end quality meals in a relaxed setting. Em who was our other waiter was excellent too. Epic staff, epic food and drinks in a friendly local neighbourhood restaurant which operates as a fantastic cafe during the day. both are a must try. Sunshine and Moonlight Cafe Bar is a delightful culinary gem with a warm ambiance and a menu filled with creatively crafted dishes using fresh, local ingredients. The impeccable service, cozy yet elegant atmosphere, and delicious food make it a must-visit spot for any occasion.

I felt so greatful to enjoy my breakfast here. The staff lady was so friendly.
